In the last 24 years, William Boothe, M.D., is a well-known cornea specialist has performed 104,200 plus Laser eye procedures so that patients can see the world using their own eyes only. Dr. William Boothe has won the VISX Surgeon of the Year award in the year 1999 from the manufacturer itself because he has performed more customized laser vision correction surgeries with the help of VISX Custom 3-Dimensional Wavefront technology than any other surgeons of the world. He is also the most experienced surgeons in the IntraLASIK laser eye procedure, having completed more than 83,000 procedures using IntraLASIK technology.
The Boothe Eye Care and Laser Center emerged among the country’s premier centers for vision correction with a strong commitment, passion and excellence in almost all technologies associated with Laser vision correction. Dr. William Boothe is considered a pioneer in this field of corrective vision surgeries and he was among the first corneal specialists who completed a full training in the different techniques for vision correction during his fellowship. He was also the first trained corneal surgeon in the Dallas area with the excimer laser, which was the first laser approved by the FDA for correcting the refractive errors.
Dr. William Boothe was one among the first three surgeons in the Dallas area who qualified for using a microkeratome. Microkeratome is an instrument that creates a corneal flap at the beginning of LASIK surgeries. For the success of your LASIK surgery, it is important to lift the corneal flap precisely which is a delicate procedure in itself. Dr. Boothe is a native of Texas who has completed his undergraduate degree with honors from Rice University. He has finished the residency from Texas Tech University School of Ophthalmology. Dr. Boothe completed his internship at Presbyterian Hospital of Internal Medicine and afterwards he joined University of Texas’ Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He obtained a corneal fellowship from Jules Stein Eye Institute and was also trained to perform refractive surgery at the same institute.
Dr. William Boothe served as a physician in an emergency room before specializing in ophthalmology. In San Angelo at Texas, he was the director of Angelo Association Emergency Center and later served as the director of Plano Emergency Center. According to Our doctor, he chose to specialize in ophthalmology because it is an interesting subject and he likes the field of ophthalmology since it is constantly evolving. He was the resident doctor at Department of Ophthalmology in Texas Tech University Health Science Center from 1983 to 1986. After completing his fellowship, Dr. William Boothe was ready to set up his own practice. He started Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center at Plano.
