The latest VISX Star S4 laser technology Offered At Boothe Eye Care

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011

Introduction

Today, laser eye surgery is considered to be one of the most effective procedures to liberate people from the use of eye glasses or contact lenses. The extraordinary excimer lasers used in this technologically-advanced procedure are among the most impeccable pieces of medical equipment ever invented. A step above other manufacturers, VISX is a pioneering organization that led the advancement of this laser technology platform for vision rectification. In some ways, it is reasonable to say that VISX “invented” the concept of vision rectification through the use of laser technology. VISX created the efficacious Star S4 laser that has made laser eye surgery readily accessible today. Boothe Eye Care offers this innovative technology, which has a heritage of reliability, performance, and outstanding results, to ensure that his patients receive the most impeccable treatment available.

VISX Star S4 Laser Technology

VISX Star S4 technology is one of the most advanced laser systems available for vision correction offered by Dr. Boothe. It is approved by the FDA for standard LASIK and PRK treatments. The Star S4 features ActiveTrak, an efficient infrared eye tracker that tracks the eyes in three distinct dimensions. The Star S4 also features Variable Spot Scanning, which uses seven variously sized laser beams for quicker, easier, and more precise treatment. Blend Zone functionality allows for a larger area of treatment, which is ideal for individuals with larger pupils, and reduces the occurrence of nighttime glare. The Star S4 excimer laser delivers high-energy pulses to the eye’s corneal surface to accurately and precisely reshape the cornea. Dr. Boothe’s skill combined with the VISX Star S4 laser will give you the best laser eye surgery possible.

Unlike some other models, the VISX Star S4 excimer laser does not require that the patient’s pupils be dilated before beginning the procedure. This allows Dr. Boothe of Boothe Eye Care to focus more narrowly on your line of vision, and reduces photosensitivity after the procedure.

VISX STAR S4 Benefits
• Iris Registration technology allows for perfect alignment of the CustomVue treatment to the cornea during the reshaping process.
• Iris Calibration adjusts for movement of the patient’s eyes during the procedure.
• Variable Spot Scanning provides accurate sizes for different treatment types.
• Variable Repetition Rate optimizes treatment time.
• Tissue-saving algorithms preserve natural corneal tissue as much as possible.

No Age Limit For Lasik Patients

Tuesday, October 11th, 2011

I am 62 years old and I know that many people in my age wear eyeglasses. Even so, in a society we are asked to look younger constantly, it is an advantage in the workplace to see well without glasses. I’m managing a team of people, most of them younger than me, and I felt limited by having mediocre eyesight. I hate wearing glasses. I don’t know how some people use contact lenses - I tried it years ago and got irritation in both of my eyes. My wife advised me to visit Boothe Eye Care, which helped her mother with her eyesight, and see what they can do for me.

I went to the center and liked their politeness and the patience they had to deal with me… I was interested in learning about the different methods of treatment and wanted them to test my eyes and see which of these options is relevant. Dr. William Boothe gave me full explanations and after the exam offered me the IntraLasik surgery, which is the most advanced procedure they currently have.

I was out of the center the same day, went to work the next day. My eyeglasses were never needed again. I look better and feel better. Even my wife says it was a change for the better…

Using Crystalens in Cataract Surgery and Presbyopia At Boothe Eye Care

Thursday, September 15th, 2011

Crystalens is an intraocular lens approved by the FDA. The method used by Boothe Eye Care in Crystalens transplants is called accommodation and it enables sharper vision to the patient at different distances. Crystalens is used in certain cases of patients who are in need of cataract surgery. After the surgical removal of cataract, the Crystalens is used to replace the natural lens of the eyes. Crystalens is a high-tech lens that works like a natural lens as it uses the eye muscles to control its movement and focus on the objects viewed from all distances. Crystalens is used for correcting presbyopia in cataract patients in order to provide them with a single focal point. If a monofocal IOL is used instead of Crystalens, you may require reading glasses even after the surgery to focus on near objects.

With Crystalens, patients’ eyes are not required to adapt to viewing two different images. Patients who are implanted with Crystalens do not have to adjust to high degrees of glare and halos that are commonly seen in surgeries involving other multifocal intraocular lenses. The new generation (Crystalens HD) falls into the category of premium IOL - it improves vision quality of patients significantly. Depth of focus can be increased because of the special optic design of the Crystalens HD. Crystalens HD also provide effective vision of near objects by maintaining the accommodating amplitude and contrast sensitivity. According to the company, the risk of glares and halos will be reduced greatly in patients using Crystalens HD.

Crystalens provides crisper vision to patients using its accommodating nature. People suffering from hyperopia and cataracts are the best candidates for Crystalens implantation. Presbyopic patients are also good candidates for Crystalens implantation. Never expect a perfect vision, explain the doctors at Boothe Eye Care, but definitely Crystalens implants provide significantly better vision. About 88% of the patients with Crystalens implants are enjoying quality of vision which is higher than the standard IOL patients. Excellent vision is reported by patients even after seven years from the date of surgery.

The results of Crystalens implants change from one patient to other. Within one or two days after the implantation, patients can enjoy very good distance vision. Patients can expect some blurred vision for near and middle objects, but it will improve after two weeks. To strengthen the focusing eye muscles, patients should discontinue using reading glasses. To attain the full focusing ability of the eye, you have to wait for several months after the surgical procedure.

There will be a difference in vision between each of the two eyes after healing is completed - this is normal. The doctors at Boothe Eye Care are experienced in Crystalens implants. You have to consult with them to know more about the procedure and see if it fits your needs and medical condition. You should also perform certain eye tests to know whether you are a good candidate for Crystalens implant. Dr. Boothe will decide whether you can do this surgical procedure by evaluating the results of the various eye tests and your health condition.
