Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center is one of the Most Advanced Centers in the Country.

Thursday, April 12th, 2012

Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center offers excimer laser vision correction for nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism with Lasik & IntraLasik. Choice of the method of correction is determined after a thorough diagnosis.

Boothe Eye Care Center offers the most advanced form of vision correction – Lasik, which is a unique combination of microsurgical and excimer laser technology. This technique first appeared in 1989 and today, it is unmatched in popularity of application.

In this method, the laser operation is performed by using the latest generation excimer laser. By using the “spot scanning method” this laser system allows the energy load on the patient’s eye to be reduced. In this way, the ideal shape of the cornea is achieved, which allows you to adjust focus with absolute precision. Vision is restored within 2-3 hours after surgery. The method is painless, because local anesthetic drops are used before the procedure. The operation is performed on an outpatient basis on both eyes in one day. This operation reduces the rehabilitation period to several days.
Laser vision correction procedure for Lasik (Lasik) is carried out for:

- Myopia up to -15,0 D
- Hyperopia up to +6,0 D
- Astigmatism up to ± 5,0 D

What is important to know about laser vision correction?
1. Convenience. You will be able to get rid of you glasses and contact lenses.
2. Not scary and safe. The modern method of laser vision correction – Lasik – is simple and within 2 hours after surgery you can go home and the following day you will be able to see the world quite differently. The surgery is performed safely under local anesthesia with minimal discomfort.
3. Effective. The vast majority of vision after laser eye surgery is 100% and sometimes higher!
4. Easy. Laser vision correction does not cause any inconvenience to your lifestyle.
5. Fast. The operation takes 15 minutes, and you can perform laser eye correction procedure immediately after a full computer diagnostic of your vision.
6. Stable. The result of laser correction does not change with age in the absence of other eye diseases.
7. Predictable. After the diagnosis Dr. Boothe will be able to predict whether or not you will be able to achieve 100% of vision, and if not, he can explain why.

It is important to know that the use of high technology allows achieving the best results only with strict observance by the patient of following simple rules:

Before the surgery:
Do not wear contact lenses for 7 days before surgery. Do not use cosmetics and makeup for one day before surgery. On the eve of the operation carefully wash your hair and face.

During the operation:
Listen carefully to the commands of the surgeon and strictly follow them; do not pay attention to the harsh sounds (buzzing, clicks); strictly fix the eyes on the luminous point: it affects the result of the operation; do not make any head movements.

Immediately after the operation:
- It is strictly forbidden to touch the eye.
- Close eyelids slowly without squeezing.
- On the first day it is recommended to sleep on their backs.

Within 1-2 hours after surgery, Dr. Boothe will examine you and provide the necessary additional recommendations.
In the first four weeks after surgery, be sure to use eye drops. Visual and physical activity should be limited. Within a month is not recommended to take long baths or swim..

The latest VISX Star S4 laser technology Offered At Boothe Eye Care

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011

Introduction

Today, laser eye surgery is considered to be one of the most effective procedures to liberate people from the use of eye glasses or contact lenses. The extraordinary excimer lasers used in this technologically-advanced procedure are among the most impeccable pieces of medical equipment ever invented. A step above other manufacturers, VISX is a pioneering organization that led the advancement of this laser technology platform for vision rectification. In some ways, it is reasonable to say that VISX “invented” the concept of vision rectification through the use of laser technology. VISX created the efficacious Star S4 laser that has made laser eye surgery readily accessible today. Boothe Eye Care offers this innovative technology, which has a heritage of reliability, performance, and outstanding results, to ensure that his patients receive the most impeccable treatment available.

VISX Star S4 Laser Technology

VISX Star S4 technology is one of the most advanced laser systems available for vision correction offered by Dr. Boothe. It is approved by the FDA for standard LASIK and PRK treatments. The Star S4 features ActiveTrak, an efficient infrared eye tracker that tracks the eyes in three distinct dimensions. The Star S4 also features Variable Spot Scanning, which uses seven variously sized laser beams for quicker, easier, and more precise treatment. Blend Zone functionality allows for a larger area of treatment, which is ideal for individuals with larger pupils, and reduces the occurrence of nighttime glare. The Star S4 excimer laser delivers high-energy pulses to the eye’s corneal surface to accurately and precisely reshape the cornea. Dr. Boothe’s skill combined with the VISX Star S4 laser will give you the best laser eye surgery possible.

Unlike some other models, the VISX Star S4 excimer laser does not require that the patient’s pupils be dilated before beginning the procedure. This allows Dr. Boothe of Boothe Eye Care to focus more narrowly on your line of vision, and reduces photosensitivity after the procedure.

VISX STAR S4 Benefits
• Iris Registration technology allows for perfect alignment of the CustomVue treatment to the cornea during the reshaping process.
• Iris Calibration adjusts for movement of the patient’s eyes during the procedure.
• Variable Spot Scanning provides accurate sizes for different treatment types.
• Variable Repetition Rate optimizes treatment time.
• Tissue-saving algorithms preserve natural corneal tissue as much as possible.

No Age Limit For Lasik Patients

Tuesday, October 11th, 2011

I am 62 years old and I know that many people in my age wear eyeglasses. Even so, in a society we are asked to look younger constantly, it is an advantage in the workplace to see well without glasses. I’m managing a team of people, most of them younger than me, and I felt limited by having mediocre eyesight. I hate wearing glasses. I don’t know how some people use contact lenses – I tried it years ago and got irritation in both of my eyes. My wife advised me to visit Boothe Eye Care, which helped her mother with her eyesight, and see what they can do for me.

I went to the center and liked their politeness and the patience they had to deal with me… I was interested in learning about the different methods of treatment and wanted them to test my eyes and see which of these options is relevant. Dr. William Boothe gave me full explanations and after the exam offered me the IntraLasik surgery, which is the most advanced procedure they currently have.

I was out of the center the same day, went to work the next day. My eyeglasses were never needed again. I look better and feel better. Even my wife says it was a change for the better…

The hard work of Dr. William Boothe paid off.

Monday, August 8th, 2011

I had a good experience thanks to Dr. William Boothe. He managed to find the most suitable treatment that would help to deal with my condition and restore my vision despite my thin cornea. I am very satisfied with the counselors attention. The nurses are nice girls who give detailed answers whenever I asked them. All staff members I had contact with during the different exams and procedures were very polite and had a positive attitude. My overall impression was that Dr. Boothe fostered an environment full of understanding to people with damaged eyesight.

Dr. Boothe had a good mood every time I met him. Although he is very busy and has many patients during the day he always listens attentively and tries to help in difficult situations. For example, I have a very thin cornea due to my use of contact lens for six years. My cornea condition was not suitable for a Lasik procedure. I was disappointed but he then offered me an alternative way. He told me about the Verisyse Phakic Intraocular Lens (IOL) which he considers a good option for patients with poor cornea. He explained that once I do the Verisyse Phakic Intraocular Lens surgery I will be able to restore my vision and be able to see far as well as close range objects. Dr. Boothe explained he successfully treated many patients with this procedure and they usually have good results. I was glad that there is a way to restore my vision and immediately agreed for the surgery.

The surgery itself was a very quick and painless procedure. Dr. Boothe is really a good surgeon and the vision correction was a success. I had irritation in my eyes after surgery but it lasted for only a few hours. Now my vision is fully regained and I can see clearly without contact lens. Thank you Dr. Boothe for your hard work and kind heart.

Is It Possible to Correct Astigmatism with LASIK?

Tuesday, July 12th, 2011

Yes, LASIK surgery can be done to correct most types of Astigmatism. It is an eye disorder that may occur by itself or in combination with hyperopia or myopia. This condition means that the patient suffers from distorted or blurred vision both at distant and near ranges. Astigmatism is caused by irregular curvature of the cornea. In astigmatism the curvature is similar to the surface of a football. There are two curves on an astigmatic cornea – one is steep and the other is flat. These curves allow the light to converge at different points after entering into the eye. The conflicting images are sent to the brain by the eye and it results in distorted or blurred vision.

Different types of astigmatism are based on the orientation and location of the various curvatures in the cornea. Patients who want to be treated for their astigmatism have two main options. One is to use a corrective lens and the other is to undergo a LASIK eye procedure. LASIK vision correction surgery is a common procedure to correct astigmatism as it is a permanent, safe and effective solution. Dr. Boothe helped tens of thousands of people to correct their astigmatism with Lasik surgery.

In order to perform a LASIK surgery on your eyes, Dr. Boothe of Boothe Laser Center and his counselors will take measurements of the eyes with the help of computerized corneal topography systems. This corneal digital map is used to perform re-sculpting of the underlying eye tissues and create more symmetrical and precise curvatures. A laser is used to lift the corneal flap and the tissue underneath will be reshaped with the help of another laser device. After reshaping these tissues, the corneal flap is placed back to its position. In general, blurred vision of an astigmatic patient can be fully corrected using LASIK procedure and enable 20/20 vision. Refractive surgery for astigmatism is usually very successful and patients are said to be highly satisfied with their surgical results.

A Lasik procedure for astigmatism is an outpatient procedure that can be completed within a few minutes. The procedure is painless and there will be no sutures and bandages after the surgery. The major benefit of LASIK surgery is that you will not have to use contact lenses or eyeglasses again in the future. Very few side-effects occur in LASIK procedures for some astigmatic patients. These side-effects include dry eyes, difficult in focusing, having to wear spectacles, seeing halos and having poor driving ability at night. In some cases, especially if treated by inexperienced surgeons, a LASIK procedure for astigmatism may under or over-estimate the patient’s refraction, which can result in less than perfect eye vision.

Patients who opted for astigmatic LASIK procedure are advised to avoid wearing visual aids several weeks prior to surgery. Patients who wear glasses or lenses have a chance to develop an infection or a scratch on the cornea which will not allow the surgeons to operate on their cornea. Astigmatism is corrected by making the steep cornea flatter. It changes the shape of the cornea to a more rounded shape. After LASIK surgery, you can better focus on images as the light enters the eyes and falls right on the focal point. Dr. William Boothe is an expert LASIK surgeon who can match a custom eye procedure to help you in correcting almost all vision problems.

Dr. William Boothe Discusses Revision Lasik

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

If you have already had Lasik vision correction, but you are not satisfied with the results, you probably need to consider revision laser eye surgery for achieving better results. Such a situation may occur if your vision is undercorrected or overcorrected following the initial Lasik procedure and if there are some complications happened during or after surgery.

According to worldwide statistics, over 95 percent of the 16 million patients treated using laser vision correction surgery are happy with their new vision. It is really true that Lasik allows to achieve great results in most cases, but any good refractive surgeon will tell you that it is not always possible to obtain 20/20 vision in only one procedure.

Dr. William Boothe says that each patient has a unique combination of various features and factors, which play an essential role in getting the best result.

Improving Vision by Replacing Your Natural Lens at Boothe Laser Center

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

Dr. William Boothe explains that the AquaLase handpiece is a tool used in cataract removal surgeries. When such procedure is done, after the cornea is removed, the natural lens of the patients needs to be polished and the cataract growth removed. AquaLase uses pulses of warm fluid to break up the nucleus and is considered an advanced alternative to ultrasound devices that are more common in practices. Performing the surgery using this tool, exlains Dr. Boothe, may be able to provide safe and effective way tp polish corneas.

Usually during the postoperative period after these type of surgeries, for about four or six weeks, Dr. Boothe of Boothe Laser Center recommend using NSAIDs to avoid the risk of cystoid macular edema (CME). Also postoperatively he suggests to perform a optical coherence tomography that is very important in the detection of CME.

Dr. William Boothe effectively uses various procedures to improve vision for different type of eye conditions. Common ophthalmology options include Lasik, IntraLasik, Epi-Lasik, corneal implants and refractive lens transplant, each with their own advantages. Dr. Boothe can professionally recommend a personalized treatment according to the patient’s expectations and lifestyle. You don’t have to suffer – contact our office today to see how we can help you see better.

One of a kind lasik surgeon Dr William Boothe

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

My IntraLasik surgery was done in 2008. Even though it has been three years, I have really good vision and it has been stable all of these years. Before surgery I had -6,25 vision in the right eye and -6 vision in the left eye. I never liked to wear glasses and contact lenses and was thinking of doing Lasik for a while.

Thanks to Dr. Boothe and his staff, who were polite and well cared for me, I was able to feel calm and have inner peace before the Intralasik operation. During the surgery I felt a little pressure on each eye. It lasted for one minute or so. Sometime it was uncomfortable – when I started to feel nervous the nurse held my hand and it calmed me down.

After surgery my eyes were very irritated. The nurse used eyedrops on my eyes and a couple of hours later my irritation, little by little, had passed. I had a second visit to Dr. Boothe where he examined my eyes, made sure all is well and that I can go home with my husband. Other follow ups were quick and successful as well.

I now have 0.9 vision in the right eye and 1.0 in the left eye. I am so grateful to Dr. Boothe.

Thanks to Dr. Boothe I had a very quick recovery!

Friday, May 13th, 2011

My vision correction was done at the Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center by Dr. William Boothe. I had on both eyes -7 vision and little astigmatism on the right eye. Before my eye surgery I was asked to do a special procedure to strengthen my retina. It was almost painless, I only felt a little nagging pain in my eyes. Dr. Boothe explained that laser eye surgery is not for everyone. When my eyes were tested, Dr. Boothe concluded that I didn’t have any contraindications and was a perfect candidate for Lasik surgery. The surgery was very quick and painless. I felt some discomfort when my eyes were being lasered (less than 2 minutes per eye) and was a bit scared because I had never had surgery before. I felt pressure in my eyes for one hour after surgery, then it was gone.

The next day my eyes didn’t hurt. When I came to my appointment, they we proud to tell me my the left eye had 1.0 vision and the right – 0.9 vision. Now my vision is stabilized and is greatly improved. Thanks to Boothe’s talented hands I had a very quick recovery period. Dr. Boothe gave me special vitamins to rapidly restore my eyesight.

I can see without glasses. I have been able to read books, work on the computer, and watch TV. This has been a wonderful treatment and I promise to tell my friends about you.

Because of LASIK at Boothe Eyecare I can see near and far.

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011

Health is very important, and when the medical staff conscientiouslytreats me, it instills confidence in a positive result. I calmly entrusted myself to Dr. William Boothe and his medical staff at Boothe Eyecare & Laser Center. I liked the whole environment from with the first examination room. The assistant always provided polite, clear answer to all questions that I asked. Mainly, I’m writing this letter to thank Dr. Boothe and his well-chosen staff for an excellent service and Texan politeness.

I think that the LASIK surgery is the best procedure to improve vision. I’ll always be grateful Dr. Boothe, who did my laser eye surgery. I was satisfied with the result of surgery and after this procedure I felt fine, not dizzy or weak, and a day later I was back to work. I didn’t experience any complications after surgery. I was touched by the very personal follow-ups after my surgery. I now see very good for near and far. I can confidently recommend doing LASIK by Dr. Boothe.

Because of Boothe Eyecare I’m not blind.

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

I will always have good memories from Dr. Boothe and his caring staff. He is highly educated and direct person. Dr. Boothe is always very busy, in spite of this he gives quite some “face” time for each patient. When talking about my problem, Dr. Boothe listened with empathy. -

I have had other surgeries before. I didn’t thinking that I will ever need to do eye surgery. But my vision deteriorated rapidly and one day I realized I’m almost blind in one eye. I live not far from the Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center. So the first thing I immediately went there. I experienced communication with different doctors. I felt a deep level of caring and attention when I was treated by Dr. Boothe. During consultation, his assistant made some tests very carefully. Dr. Boothe suggested a laser eye surgery in two steps. He explained that it will reduce the risk related with the surgery. Also such step by step surgery assures better result.

During the first surgery I was a bit anxious. Despite this, I tried not to panic and listened to Dr. Boothe. The surgery took about 15 minutes. This procedure was painless but I felt slight tingling and discomfort. Worse was after surgery. I felt irritated And although I read about postoperative consequences, I was very frightened. Dr. Boothe gave me special drops to relieve irritation. The nurses came very often and repeatedly asked how I feel and offered their help. When I woke up the next day my irritation has passed and I was in a great condition. Dr. Boothe examed my eye later that day and I had vision 20/40.

My second surgery was as quick and painless as first one. After surgery I didn’t have any irritation and now I have perfect vision 20/20. I am so glad that I went to treatment at this Center. With full confidence, I can recommend the Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center to everyone who wants to improve his or her vision.

Boothe Eyecare Discusses Nearsightedness

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011

Nearsightedness is a condition in which a refractive error in the eye makes it difficult for people to see objects at a distance. When someone is nearsighted, it means that the cornea is too steep from the front to the back of the eyeball, causing incoming light rays to focus in front of the retina, rather than directly on the retina. Blurry vision can hamper your ability to perform everyday tasks such as driving, reading or watching television.

Also known as myopia, nearsightedness can be corrected by wearing eyeglasses or contact lenses. The strength of your prescription will depend on severity of the condition, or the degree of refractive error in your eye. But external eyewear is only a temporary measure that doesn’t correct the actual source of myopia. Maintaining glasses or contacts can also be burdensome as well as a constant expense.

An increasingly popular method for permanently correcting nearsightedness involves laser eye surgeries. Over the last two decades, the use of advanced excimer lasers in refractive eye surgery has been perfected and has become an extremely safe and viable solution for millions of patients.

LASIK involves excising microscopic amounts of tissue from your cornea to re-sculpt the shape of the eye. With the help of advanced mapping technologies, the procedure enables light rays to refocus directly on the retina, resulting in crystal clear vision. LASIK begins with creating a corneal flap on the surface of the eye. This flap is folded back to expose tissues beneath that can be sculpted with a laser, using state-of-the-art tracking systems and computer-generated maps of the eye. Once this step is complete, the corneal flap is repositioned where it is allowed to heal.

The entire procedure is typically completed within 15 minutes, though it often depends on the severity of the myopia. Recovery time is minimal; most patients are able to resume work and regular activities within a couple of days.

Not everyone with nearsightedness, however, is a good candidate for LASIK. Deciding whether the procedure is right for you requires a personal consultation with an experienced laser eye surgeon. Dr. William Boothe is one of the most experienced laser eye surgeons in the United States, having been one of the earliest pioneers of the technique in the country. Since 1987, Dr. Boothe has completed nearly 200,000 successful laser eye procedures, bringing the world into focus and improving quality of life for many patients. Call the Boothe Eye Care and Laser Center in Plano, Texas, for an appointment today.

Dr Boothe Dicusses Ways to Improve Your Vision

Wednesday, January 12th, 2011

It is impossible to imagine our life without the ability to see. Thanks to our eyes, we can enjoy this world, its colors and details. They help us to obtain information from books and to watch our favorite TV programs. Considering that our eyes give us such an invaluable possibility of perceiving our surroundings , we should not forget to look after them carefully.

Once our vision worsen, we start noticing a growing level of discomfort while participating in daily activities and stop deriving full pleasure from the good things in life. Of course, you can effectively correct weak vision with the help of eye glasses, contact lenses or even laser surgery. But what if you do not want to choose any of these? Are there any other alternatives for vision improvement? Dr. William Boothe, one of the most experienced eye surgeons in the United States, suggests that there may be other ways to deal with deteriorating vision, at least temporarily. Here are a few advices for you to improve vision naturally, easily and without spending a cent on visual aids or laser eye correction.

First of all, Dr. Boothe suggests to find out exactly what are the causes of your eyesight deterioration. When you determine them, it is necessary to avoid these unfavorable factors. For example, if the monitor screen is the main cause of vision declining, it is better to use special monitor filter or protective computer glasses. If there is not enough light in your room, you should use extra illumination devices for proper amount of lightening. Another Dr. Boothe advice for enhancing your vision is to eat eye-healthy foods such as grains, vegetables and fruits. Most vision problems are caused by the lack of various vitamins, especially vitamin A, thus you can help yourself to see better by eating carrots, spinach and blueberries. Also please make sure that you drink enough water to keep your body hydrated.

If these solutions do not stop worsening eye conditions, consult an eye doctor or come in to Dr. Boothe office for a free evaluation of your situation and a detailed explanation of how a simple, cost-effective in-office procedure can solve these issues once and for all and restore your eyesight.

Lasik With Dr. Boothe – Video

This is what Pete O’Brien, former MLB player and one of many Dr. Boothe’s patients, said: “I’ve been to the couple of other laser centers and I realized that the technology Dr. Boothe had in his office was exactly what I needed. That’s why I went to Dr. Boothe”. He also added that he no longer has to go look for his glasses every time he gets on the road and plays soccer with his five children. Lasik Surgery Pricing

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

It is commonly known that laser vision correction price varies much from doctor to doctor and area of the country. According to available data, traditional Lasik procedure price can range from $500 to $3,000 per eye. Dr. Boothe says that the cost of the procedure is determined by the level of vision correction required, the laser technology recommended for your individual prescription, and is set on a per-eye basis. The cost of prescriptions can also raise the overall prices of laser vision correction surgery.

The price of Lasik surgery always includes the purchase and maintenance of surgical, technical and office equipment. It also contains costs of regular surgical attire including gloves, caps, masks, gowns, and other disposable materials as well as medications such as anesthesia, eye drops and oral pain medications used before, during and after laser vision correction procedure. Furthermore, it is important for laser centers to run advertisements sometimes, thus it also greatly influences the price of procedure. Some centers may charge a per eye price for Lasik procedure and the price they charge may contain only the actual procedure, while another center may include both pre-op and post-op visits in the published price for each eye.

The cost of the laser vision correction may also be determined by the type of technology employed during the surgery. Actual Dr. Boothe’s example: IntraLasik surgery that utilizes a femtosecond laser instead of a mechanical microkeratome for corneal flap creation is usually from $250 to $500 more per eye than traditional Lasik procedure. In addition, use of the newest Wavefront Mapping equipment also leads to higher prices.

Boothe Eye Care Center in Texas is one of few centers in the nation to offer the latest and the most remarkable technologies, highly professional surgical and office staff, and at the same time it provides excellent financial options for each patient. You can even have your vision corrected for as low as $33 a month per eye! For a limited time Boothe EyeCare offers up to $2500 OFF some Lasik treatments.

If you need more information, visit BootheLaserCenter.com or call 214-328-0444 for a free consultation to get to know if you are a good candidate for laser vision correction procedure.

Urban myths about Lasik

Wednesday, December 15th, 2010

There are many stories about complications after laser eye surgeries, such as eye injuries, impossibility to become pregnant, to look at the sun, to do sport etc. Dr. Boothe believes these are urban myths that are groundless and are not related to how Lasik is actually performed. The current methods of Lasik are very safe if the right approach is used. The treatment needs to be tailored to each patient’s eye condition, explains Boothe. Patients can return to ordinary active life within two or three days, or return to sports within one to two weeks. The Durability of the cornea is restored to normal condition in a couple of months.

It is also important to have a prophylactic laser treatment of dangerous retinal areas for nearsighted patient. The result of Lasik procedure is finally settled in three to six months and remains for life, in most cases.

Dr. William Boothe assures that ordinary ultraviolet radiation does not exert damaging influence on an operated eye: with the help of the Lasik technique, the surgeon preserves a corneal layer that serves as ultraviolet barrier. Thanks to the latest technologies it is possible to have the surgery at any time of the year.

Lasik surgery is aimed to restore patient’s vision in the best possible way. It is well known that the Boothe Laser Center, which is located in north of Dallas, offers state-of-the-art Lasik technology for over 10 years. Dr. William Boothe has already performed over 118,800 Lasik surgeries and over 71,900 IntraLasik procedures. At the center only high-level sanitary conditions are maintained and high-standard equipment is utilized. Dr. Boothe is committed to setting the standard for excellence in laser vision correction with a caring and friendly atmosphere.
