Dallas Lasik FAQ
Frequently Asked Dallas LASIK Questions
What is LASIK?
LASIK is a surgical procedure where a flap is created on the surface of the cornea, folded back, and a laser beam is used to gently reshape the cornea. The flap is then folded back. This whole procedure causes little to no discomfort and improves the patients vision.
What are the differences between LASIK and IntraLASIK?
The flap that is created with LASIK is created using a blade to cut a flap in the cornea. IntraLASIK is the same procedure as Lasik, but it uses a laser to create the thin flap. IntraLASIK is considered by many surgeons to be a safer and better procedure than traditional LASIK. If you are considering getting all-laser lasik in dallas, you should consider Dr William Boothe. Dr William Boothe is the most experienced IntraLASIK surgeon in the world and has done over 99,000 Lasik procedures.
Am I a good candidate for LASIK?
Yes! If you are 18 years or older, have healthy eyes with stable vision for the past year, no eye diseases, and are in good general health, then you are probably a good candidate for LASIK. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to self-diagnose if your a good candidate for LASIK, but if you call Dr William Boothe today, his office will be able to tell you if you are a good dallas lasik candidate.
What kind of results can I expect?
Despite many patients are able to see very shortly after lasik, how well and quickly your vision improves depends on your eyes. Many dallas lasik patients do see 20/20 or better, but this type of correction can not be guaranteed. With corrected vision from lasik, you should be able to perform daily activities with out needing glasses or contact lenses. Many lasik patients are even able to go back to work the very next day!
Will the procedure hurt?
Lasik causes little to no discomfort. Dr William Boothe uses numbing drops on your eyes before surgery to avoid the patient feeling as much discomfort. After Lasik, you may feel a slight gritty feeling for a few hours but this should go away. Dr William Boothe can also prescribe pain medication to alleviate any discomfort after surgery.
How soon can I return to work?
Many Dallas Lasik patients are able to return to work the next day, but for your convenience, Dr William Boothe does lasik surgery on Fridays so that you will have multiple days to recover without missing work.
Are there any risks or side effects with LASIK?
Yes, as with any surgery, laser vision correction involves a degree of risk. Dr William Boothe offers free lasik consultations at his clinic in the Dallas area where you can sign up and learn more information about the risks. Dr Boothe meets with every patient before surgery and you can ask him personally before your lasik surgery about any risks that you might be facing. Results of clinical studies indicate that the chances of having a vision-reducing complication are less than 1 percent. There have been no reported cases of blindness resulting from LASIK.
Is it expensive?
Compared to the cost of glasses, contact lenses and lens care over the course of a few years, LASIK in dallas is a cost-effective alternative. Patients have clear, natural vision with reduced (or eliminated) dependence on glasses and contacts. While some medical plans may cover the cost, most still consider this an elective treatment and therefore do not pay for the procedure.
