LASER TECHNOLOGY at the Boothe Eye Care and Laser Center

The Boothe Eye Care and Laser Center is equipped with a range of state-of-the-art laser technologies that ensure the highest possible accuracy in surgery and satisfaction of the patient. The following are brief summaries of some of those technologies.

Wavefront-Customized LASIK: Wavefront-customized laser technologies allow Dr. Boothe to treat patients who have what is known as high-order aberrations. With this device, Dr. Boothe can create a “map” of the patient’s eye that accounts for specific abnormalities in his/her eye. This computer-generated map can be downloaded to a laser so that the treatment is customized with unprecedented precision to ensure the highest possible results. Wavefront laser technologies are so effective, some patient testimonials and reviews report vision surpassing 20/20 as well as improvements in nighttime vision.

VISX STAR S4: The VISX STAR S4 is an excimer laser that uses an advanced “ActiveTrak” feature to monitor your eye movements in three dimensions. Using VISX allows Dr. Boothe to cut down the length of the procedure while promoting faster healing and improving results for the patient. Dr. Boothe has performed more VISX 3-D Wavefront-Customized procedures than any other surgeon in the world.

Allegretto Wavelight: The Allegretto Wavelight is used to improve nighttime vision and reduce glares, halos and other vision problems that tend to increase with age. This device combines smart energy control and advanced eye-tracking technologies to create a highly customized map your eye, charting its exact curvature and biomechanics. This ensures that the treatment you receive is exactly tailored to the unique characteristics of your eye. Allegretto Wavelight also uses PerfectPulse Technology, a powerful laser that can be calibrated to the exact needs of each patient. This controlled beam of energy sculpts the surface of the eye with remarkable safety and precision, ensuring excellent results.

INTRAOCULAR LENSES (IOL): Intraocular lenses are artificial lens implants that can replace natural lenses that may have deteriorated, often due to age. There are many types of synthetic lenses available today. Dr. Boothe can help you determine which one is most suitable for you.

AcrySof ReSTOR: ReSTOR is a permanent, artificial lens that provides patients with clearer vision and greater independence from glasses, contacts, and other cumbersome eyewear. ReSTOR lenses have a patented optic design that helps to focus light on the retina, enabling you to see clearly at various distances. The apodized diffractive technology gradually blends each diffractive step, which enables great vision even in environments where there is low lighting. One of the newest technologies available in vision correction surgeries, ReSTOR lenses are made of soft plastic, the same material used in cataract surgery. Patient reviews following the procedure highlight significant improvement in vision. Eighty percent of patients say they have no need for glasses or contacts anymore and can see at various distances. Ninety-four percent say they can drive or read without the help of glasses or contacts.

Crystalens: Crystalens is a lens implant designed to provide you with a full range of vision at all distances near, intermediate and far. While many “single” lenses still require you to wear glasses, Crystalens mimicks the focusing ability of a natural lens, giving you sharper vision so you can read and drive without need for glasses or contacts.

Versyse Lens: The Versyse lens is a popular alternative for people who cannot undergo LASIK, either because they have thin corneas or because their nearsightedness or farsightedness is too severe. Versyse implants do not replace patients natural lens. This allows the patient to retain the ability to adjust for different distances. Versyse implantation is a 15-minute outpatient procedure that may be reversed.
